"I load an amp sim, but my recorded sound never feels finished."
UAD's Paradise Guitar Studio solved much of that problem for me.
Released in December 2025, it is Universal Audio's first all-in-one guitar plugin.
Amps, cabinets, mics, pedals and studio-style FX are all in one.
What Is Paradise Guitar Studio? First, What's Inside
In a word, it is "a plugin that puts the whole guitar recording chain on one plugin."
You choose an amp. You choose a cabinet and mic. You add pedals and studio-style FX.
That whole flow stays inside one screen.
It is in UAD Native format, so no dedicated UA hardware is needed.
It runs on a computer alone, on Mac or Windows.
*An iLok account is required for license management (you can activate on up to 3 machines).
| Amps | 11 models in total based on 6 classic amps (Dream '65, Ruby '63, Enigmatic '82 and more, from clean to crunch to boutique) |
| Cabinets and mics | About 35 combinations (classic cabinets and mics come pre-paired) |
| Effects | 25+ (1176 compressor, tape echo, plate/spring reverb, EQ, chorus, flanger, vibrato, overdrive types and more) |
| Presets | 300+ (rock, blues, indie, metal, funk, pop and more) |
| Other | Built-in tuner, input gate, drag-and-drop operation |
| Format / operation | UAD Native (no hardware) / Mac and Windows / iLok required |
The point is that it is not "just an amp" but a whole "amp plus mic'd recording environment." That is what sets it apart most from other amp sims.
The "11 Amps" Are Really 6 Classic Amps
"11 amps" sounds like a lot, but it is really 6 core amps.
Of those, the Lion '68 and Enigmatic '82 have multiple models, which makes 11 in total.
UAD's approach is a little unusual.
They gather and service many real units, then pick the musically best one as the "golden unit."
They then measure it at the component level and recreate it.
That's why the amp-like wobble stays, down to transformer saturation and power supply sag.
| Model | Original classic | Character |
| Woodrow '55 | Fender Tweed Deluxe (5E3) | Rough, breaking-up tweed drive |
| Ruby '63 | Vox AC30 Top Boost | Sparkling, chimey clean |
| Showtime '64 | Fender Showman | Wide headroom. Good as a base for pedals |
| Dream '65 | Fender Deluxe Reverb (blackface) | Classic American. Built-in reverb and tremolo |
| Lion '68 | Marshall Plexi types (Lead / Bass / Brown) | British, leaning rock to high gain |
| Enigmatic '82 | Dumble Overdrive Special | Singing, mid-forward lead and superb clean |
Here is a video that plays through the presets of the Dream '65 (Fender-style).
I also made a video playing through the Lion's Marshall-style presets.
There is also a video playing all of the Enigmatic's presets.
Built-in studio gear and pedals
The effects aren't just a "bonus" either.
You can insert up to 5 FX before the amp and up to 5 after it.
Main built-in FX
Drive: Big Muff, RAT, Klon, Tube Screamer, Fuzz Face and ODR-1 types / Time-based: plate and spring reverb, tape-echo-style delay / Studio: 1176 compressor, 4-band EQ / Modulation: various choruses, flanger, phaser, vibrato, tremolo
Having the 1176 compressor is quietly strong.
You can even out the grain of a clean tone, or deliberately crush it hard.
It all stays within the chain without opening another plugin.
My Honest Impressions After Heavy Use in Home Recording
What surprised me most is that just by picking a preset, the recorded sound already sounds "right."
Normally, you add EQ and a compressor after an amp sim, then layer time-based effects, and so on, which takes effort.
With Paradise, it felt like that whole process was included from the start.
What I especially liked was the feel of clean to edge-of-breakup tones.
It responds properly to how hard or soft you pick.
The "sag"-like wobble typical of tube amps came through even on a line recording at home.
You can build a flow of "play it first, and fine-tune if you like it."
I think the effect is greatest for people who tend to stall at home recording.
Take a look at Paradise Guitar Studio
Compatibility with Ambient Styles
What got me most excited personally was the modulation FX.
Several choruses, a flanger, a phaser, vibrato and tremolo.
These are built into the plugin itself, so you can build the base of a "wall of sound" in a single plugin.
Layer modulation on a clean amp (Ruby '63 or Dream '65) and add depth with reverb.
I got a wavering texture fairly close.
Here is a video where I tried a wavering-style preset.
I also put together the dream-pop-style presets separately.
Just one note (for people who want to stack sound)
You can insert up to 5 pedals before the amp. If you aim for a roaring sound that stacks many stages, there may be times it feels not enough. In that case, the trick is to split into tracks and layer them.
How It Compares to TONEX and Logic's Built-in Amps
I use TONEX MAX and Logic's built-in Amp Designer too.
Having done so, I felt that, roughly speaking, their roles differ.
| Good at | Best for | |
| Paradise Guitar Studio | Finishing the recorded sound, mic and FX included. Fast | People who stall on sound design / want to speed up home recording |
| TONEX MAX | Capture accuracy and realism of a specific amp | People who want to get close to a particular real amp's sound |
| Logic's Amp Designer | Basics are enough at zero extra cost | People who want to start free |
TONEX is about pinning down "that real amp's sound."
Paradise is about quickly making "a recorded sound that sits in the song."
I also made a video comparing crunch tones side by side.

TONEX vs AmpliTube 5 | Which Should a Home-Recording Guitarist Build Around? A Comparison from an Owner of Both
"For home guitar recording, I want to start with one amp simulator." When you think that, the first wall you hit is TONEX or AmpliTube 5: which one should you build around? Both are made by IK Multimedia. The names are similar, and honestly it is confusing. In this article, I'm ryo, with 13 years of guitar and 8 years of DTM. I'll compare them honestly as someone who owns and uses both. I won't just list specs. I'll focus on which one you can build around without regrets. Recommended for Anyone who can't quite tell TONEX and AmpliTube 5 ...
What Bothered Me and Who It Isn't For
It isn't all good, so I'll be honest.
Not for everyone
Little freedom with the cabinet (you can't change mic distance or angle in detail) / no IR loader / it gives way to large amp sims in the sheer number of amps and FX
If you want to move the mic position in millimeter steps, it may feel lacking.
If you want to load your own IRs, other software is a better fit.
Also, it uses a fair amount of memory while running.
On an older machine, there were moments when it felt a little heavy.
Price, How to Buy and Good Timing
The list price (MSRP) is $199.
At launch it had an intro price of $149, and in later sales it has dropped to around $99.
*Plugin Boutique list prices (shown in yen on its Japan store) were checked in October 2026 and are consistent with the list prices above. Sale prices are past results and change.
*Prices change with timing and exchange rates. Always check the latest price before you buy.
If you already own the UAD Guitar Amp Bundle or some UAD amps, a crossgrade discount may be offered. Add it to your cart and check the price.
It is also included in the UAD Spark subscription.
Being able to choose between "buying it outright" and "trying it through the subscription" is reassuring.
For the lowest price, the time around Black Friday is still the one to aim for.
I summarize each year's sale trends here.

Black Friday 2026 Guide for Guitarists | TONEX, AmpliTube, UAD and How to Buy Without Regret
To give the conclusion first, the main day of Black Friday 2026 is Friday, November 27. The first thing a guitarist should aim at is the TONEX MAX + AmpliTube 5 MAX two-in-one bundle. Discounts of 50 to over 80% are not rare. But if you buy everything in sight just because it's cheap, you only add to your pile of unused plugins. This page ...
